Shocking footage has shown a high school track runner being king hit mid-race in Florida.
The footage shows a runner coming from behind his fellow competitor on the track and punching him in the back of the head to the disbelief of the crowd.
"Are you f***ing kidding me?!" one person could be heard yelling repeatedly while others screamed in horror.
The wild attack happened in the 1600-metre race at the Tohopekaliga Tiger Invitational in the city of Kissimmee - just outside of Orlando - last weekend.
Exactly why this shocking incident happened is being investigated by police but TMZ has been told by witnesses that the athlete who threw the punch was not involved in the race.
The disruptor was allegedly standing on the track and was told by the runner - who ultimately got punched - to move out of the way.
During the next lap, instead of moving, the disruptor allegedly continued to impede the runner, who pushed him over.
In retaliation, the disruptor chased down the runner and punched him in the back of the head.
The lawyer for the punched runner, Nathan Carter, told TMZ his client suffered a concussion and was considering a lawsuit.
Carter added that the Osceola County Sheriff's Office falsely claimed his client didn't want to press charges.
"The family of the victim did want to press charges for this vicious attack and assault caught on video and witnessed by hundreds of people," Carter said.
"The OCSD deputy told the family that if [my client] pressed charges then he would also be arrested for battery. Only because of this threat did the family choose not to press charges."
