A US woman has testified in court that her husband forced her to behead her coworker.
Britany Barron told the New Hampshire court the incident came after he found out she and coworker Jonathan Amerault were texting each other in secret.
When asked in court if she wanted to start a relationship with Amerault, she said: "I thought there might have been potential, but I wasn't planning on a relationship."
In September 2020, Britany's husband Armando used his wife's cellphone to lure Amerault to a nearby park, leaving their three young children at their grandmother's house next door.
She said in court her husband told her "don't do anything stupid or the girls are going to walk into something gruesome", CBS reported.
Britany said her husband forced Amerault into the back of his own car and made his wife sit in the driver's seat, leaving them alone.
There was a machete in the car and Amerault told Britany to use it to kill her husband but she couldn't, CBS reported.
She said eventually her husband got into the car and shot Amerault three times.
CBS reported Britany was allegedly forced to cut off his head so there would be no dental records.
Armando then allegedly made her drive the deceased coworker's car 300km to a remote campsite, where she was forced to dispose of the body.
The body was found by New Hampshire Fish and Game officers in a swamp after they found Britany at the campsite where she was not allowed to camp, CBS reported.
The couple both denied they shot the twenty-five-year-old, however Armando admitted to breaking his wife's nose, striking her and trying to strangle her. He also admitted to kicking Amerault in the head.
Britany pleaded guilty in 2021 to three counts of falsifying evidence and was released from jail on parole in April 2022.
