A man has been arrested for allegedly trespassing in Buckingham Palace to visit the Queen.
Connor Attridge, 28, reportedly sneaked into the Palace grounds on Sunday (UK time) through the vehicle gate of the Royal Mews after it was opened for an authorised vehicle.
He then managed to breach the palace boundary and kept walking around four metres after being asked to stop by a member of staff.
According to People magazine, the man told staff "I want to come in, I want to see the Queen" before being ushered out of the gate and arrested.
But despite Attridge's desperate attempt to see the Queen, the monarch was not staying at Buckingham Palace at the time, as she was on a short break in her Balmoral estate in Scotland.
Attridge's lawyer Daniel Mullin said he suffered from mental health issues and had "no motive or desire to go further than he did".
"This was at worst reckless and at best bordering on an accidental offence," Mullin told the Westminster Magistrates' Court.
Attridge was granted bail with conditions including a curfew and orders not to travel to London unless to attend court.
The incident took place not long before the Queen is due to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee on Friday, being the first British monarch to commemorate 70 years on the throne.
