US President Joe Biden has escaped uninjured after he fell off his bike near his beach house in Delaware on Saturday afternoon (local time).
Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were finishing up a morning bike ride in the Gordons Pond area on the Delaware shore, as they marked their 45th wedding anniversary on Friday.
As Biden approached a waiting crowd of fans and media of about 30 people, he made a meal of the dismount as his foot got stuck in the pedal toe cage and fell over.
The crowd gasped as they saw him fall and a mad scramble occurred of Secret Service agents and press trying to help him up.
Biden appeared uninjured in the crash after standing back up immediately and telling the press, "I'm good" and "I got my foot caught up".
The President said the toe cages on his bike should be removed after his foot got caught before he could steady himself.
Once Biden dusted himself off, he was seen chatting with people who had gathered to watch him cycle.
He joked with the crowd after getting up that running the country was like any other job, he told one well-wisher.
"When you are President, will you remember me?" he asked one small child.
The White House said no medical attention was needed.
"As the President said, his foot got caught on the pedal while dismounting and he is fine," said a White House official, who did not wish to be named.
"The President looks forward to spending the rest of the day with his family."
It's not the first embarrassing moment Biden has had as President. In March, he stumbled on the steps as he climbed aboard Air Force One.
The White House blamed that incident on high winds.
In late November, Biden suffered a hairline fracture in his right foot while playing with one of his dogs.
At 78, Biden was the oldest person ever to assume the presidency when he entered the White House on January 20 last year.
