A "tearful" Princess of Wales has revealed what her youngest son Prince Louis said as a tribute to his great-grandmother the Queen.
She joined her husband Prince William, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle during a 40-minute walkabout at Windsor Castle on Saturday (local time), where they inspected the sea of floral tributes laid outside the gates and met with people who were mourning the Queen's death.
Among the crowd was Banita Ranow, 28, who said she heard Kate tell the children next to her what her youngest son Louis had said about the Queen's death.
She said Kate told the children: "Louis said, 'At least Grannie is with great grandpa now'."
Ranow said the Princess was "welling up" as she spoke with the young children.
The walkabout also marked the first time in over a year that William and Harry had appeared publicly together. The last time was in July 2021 when they opened a memorial in honour of their mother, Princess Diana.
Ranow said it was "really nice" to see the brothers together.
"I just hope in the future they remain like that and that the brothers come together, and the families."
Another well-wisher also in the crowd at Windsor Castle said it was "nice to see the family united in grief".
"I think it's nice to see them all united here in town in which the Queen resided," the well-wisher said, according to the UK's Telegraph.
"I'm sure she would have been absolutely delighted. As a nan myself, I'd be absolutely delighted if my grandchildren had made up and were reunited.
"It's a shame it's in grief but it's nice that they've come together."
A royal source described it as an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family and the joint outing has raised the prospect of reconciliation between the brothers.
