Former US President Donald Trump is used to having thousands of people gather at his rallies around the country, but a mere 27 people attended a gathering of supporters in Washington DC this week.
Organisers of the rally tried to stay positive despite the extremely low turnout at the gathering on Capitol grounds, which they put down to several factors but claim it was still a "success".
"We put the word out, literally, about a week ago. We would have liked to have more people but I would consider it a success," John Paul Moran, founder of GOUSA, told The Daily Beast.
Trump was not an organiser and was not at the "Stop the Tyrants and Unite for Freedom" rally on Friday (local time).
Some of the former US President's most high-profile supporters were part of 27 people who attended, though, with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon attending - alongside MAGA fashion designer Andre Soriano and aide Matt Braynard.
Two security guards were also included in the 27 people who turned up.
Organisers and people who attended the rally hinted invitation emails went to their spam folders and the event taking place on a weekday were factors behind the low turnout.
"They didn't go into my inbox. They disappeared entirely," Deborah Weiss told The Daily Beast.
Liberal activists using whistles approached the gathering and were labelled "paid agitators" and members of Antifa by Moran.
"I want you to recognise something," Braynard told The Beast. "They are trying to interrupt. That's why they're blowing the whistles. To make it hard to hear us!"
