A UK animal rights activist group has poured milk over two high-end London department stores in protest against dairy products, while climate protesters have blocked central London streets.

Protesters from Animal Rebellion - an offshoot of the Extinction Rebellion group - released videos of their demonstrations, which took place at Fortnum & Mason and Selfridges on Friday (local time).

The animal rights group named the protestors as Sofia Fernandes Pontes and Steve Bone. The videos show the protestors taking milk bottles from the shelves of Fortnum & Mason and pouring them over the red carpet in the store.

About 45 minutes later, they poured milk over a cheese stand at Selfridges on Oxford St before being kicked out.

But Animal Rebellion claims one of their protestors was "assaulted by a member of the public" during the Selfridges demonstration - which appeared to be when a man put his arm in front of Fernandes Pontes's neck.

The video shows the man trying to block Fernandes Pontes as she was leaving the scene, catching her neck with his outstretched arm. The protest didn't go down well with onlookers in the store, with one person off-camera asking an employee, "Do you guys not intervene?" The member of staff replied, "We're not allowed to".

Another onlooker shouted, "F**king ashamed of yourselves", and as the activists started to leave the store, an onlooker said: "Yeah, t*ss off, now. B***er off".

This wasn't the only demonstration happening in the UK over the weekend with another group of protestors, also from Animal Rebellion, pouring red paint inside Farlows, a hunting and fishing shop in London, and dousing paint on the windows of William Evans, a shooting supply shop nearby.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed 27 people were arrested on Saturday in connection with the Animal Rebellion protests, according to UK media outlet the Daily Mail.

A fellow environmental group, Just Stop Oil, was also seen blocking a road on Park Ln in central London on Saturday as part of their efforts to stop future gas and oil projects from proceeding.

Videos from this protest show members of the public ripping the demonstrator's signs from them and trying to drag members of Just Stop Oil off the road who were blocking traffic.

Scotland Yard confirmed there were 24 arrests made in relation to those protests, the Daily Mail reported.

It comes after Animal Rebellion put out a message "calling all vegans to occupy London", and claims protesters brought London's West End "to a standstill" as people marched from Green Park to Piccadilly Circus.

The environmental group is calling on UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and Environment Secretary Ranil Jayawardena to tackle what they call the "climate, ecological and cost-of-living crises".
