A couple in Texas has been arrested and charged after their seven-year-old foster son was found dead in a washing machine.
On Tuesday (local time), Jemaine Thomas, 42, was charged with capital murder along with his wife Tiffany Thomas, 35, who was charged with injury to a child by omission.
On July 28, Texas police found seven-year-old Troy Koehler dead in a washing machine in Spring, Texas, NBC News reported.
In July, Koehler's parents reported the boy missing at around 4:00am (local time) and deputies arrived at the scene around 5:20am (local time) KPRC reported.
The seven-year-old was later found in a washing machine in the family's garage.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted on Wednesday (local time): "Forensic sciences conducted an autopsy on Troy Koehler (seven). The autopsy revealed that Troy suffered new and previous injuries. Troy's death was ruled a homicide. May he rest in peace."
KPRC reported court documents revealed Koehler's adoptive parents were upset he had eaten some of their snacks.
The court documents included text messages Jemaine sent to his wife: "I need to get the [locks]. I'm going to end up kill[ing] him," after he found out the seven-year-old had eaten some of his doughnuts.
KPRC reported the young boy had experienced asphyxiation, blunt-force trauma and possible drowning.
Koehler also had injuries to his face and multiple bruises on his body.
The seven-year-old was adopted by the couple in 2019.
