A dog walker in the UK has been mauled to death by the canines she was walking.
On Thursday (local time), the 28-year-old woman was walking several dogs in the UK town of Caterham when she was attacked.
Officers are investigating the attack and put a cordon in place in the area, the BBC reported. Police said no arrests have been made.
Eight dogs were seized by police at the scene and the owners of the dogs have been identified and made aware of the investigation.
"I would like to reassure residents that we are confident all the dogs involved are in the custody of police whilst we investigate the circumstances of what has happened," said Insp Lyndsey Whatley, as reported by the BBC.
Another woman at the scene was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for dog bites and was later discharged.
The woman who died has not been named but police confirmed her family has been told.
"Our investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing and we would ask the community not to speculate," the BBC quoted Chief Insp Alan Sproston as saying.
Several people told the state broadcaster they haven't heard of any other dog attacks in the area before.
"It's a nice circular woodland walk and we've never had any issues before. It is so shocking. Normal dogs surely wouldn't do that," one woman said.
"That particular area, View Point, is an area where professional dog walkers will turn up in their van and take the dogs out and walk them," said another man who runs a kennel and cattery nearby. "I've always felt you see some of these dog walkers have five or six and they shouldn't be able to do that."
Catherine Sayer, the leader of the local Tandridge District Council, said it was a "terrible, tragic incident".
"Obviously, our thoughts are with the family of the young woman who died and we very much hope for a quick recovery for the woman who was injured," she was quoted as saying by local media.
