Video: Footage shows man wrestling gun out of Monterey Park shooting suspect's hands

Footage has emerged of a man wrestling the gun out of a suspected shooter's hands in California.

Huu Can Tran, 72, is suspected of killing 11 people on Saturday in the Los Angeles suburb of Monterey Park.

NBC reported that after Tran allegedly killed the 11 people, he then went to a dance club in neighbouring suburb Alhambra, where he was met with Brandon Tsay, 26, who fought the gunman and disarmed him.

The video showed the two men attacking each other in a dance hall before Tsay shoved the man off and Tran walked out of the room.

The 72-year-old put up a fight with Tsay as Tran punched him in the head repeatedly to try and escape from him.

After Tsay wrestled the gun from him, he held it in one hand and used his cell phone with the other hand, NBC reported.

The whole interaction between the two men lasted around four minutes.

Tsay told ABC's Good Morning America he initially thought he was "going to die" there, but when he came face to face with the suspected gunman, he realised he needed to disarm him.

"I really thought I would have to shoot him if he came at me," he said.

After leaving the dance hall in Alhambra, Tran was found by police in Torrance, California. When police approached him, Tran took his own life.
