The Polish woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann has been contacted by an American family who believes she could actually be their missing child.

Posting under the Instagram account @Iammadeleinemccann, Julia Wendell has grown a large following and despite many refusing to believe her claims, she maintains she is Madeleine McCann.

Her private investigator Dr Fia Johansson said that although they have not confirmed Wendell is McCann, they have evidence that she is not the biological child of her parents in Poland.

"We have a lot of evidence right now that shows Julia was definitely trafficked to Poland from another country by an international sex trafficking group," Dr Johansson told RadarOnline.com.

However, this is the second family to reach out to Wendell wondering if she could be their missing child instead. The investigator said they aren't revealing the name of the American family who believes Wendell could be their missing child and instead they are waiting on the results of DNA tests that will narrow down their search.

"Right now there are a lot of families with missing children, similar to Julia's age that are going to be emailing us because they would love to know where their missing loved ones are."

As RadarOnline previously reported, the family of missing 6-year-old, Livia Schepp, who vanished in Switzerland, has also reached out to Wendell and her team seeing DNA.

Dr Johansson said that they are waiting for the results of Wendell's tests to determine if her ancestry is the same as any of the missing girls and if it is they will compare DNA with the relevant family.
