A spearfisher in Queensland was bitten three times by a crocodile before he managed to fight the beast off by sticking his fingers in its eyes.
The unnamed man was spearfishing at Archer Point north of Cairns on Saturday when a four-and-a-half-metre croc attacked him, 7 News reports.
Paramedic Valerie Noble told 7 News the man tried to fight off the animal with his speargun but was unsuccessful.
"He's managed to stick his fingers in the crocodile's eyes multiple times," she said.
He was bitten three times before he freed himself and made it to shore where he was taken to Cairns University Hospital.
He had injuries to his head and legs and is in a stable condition.
The attack came days after a 65-year-old man was bitten on the foot by a crocodile while he slept on the beach at Port Douglas.
Manfred Van Eckeren was asleep when he felt the crocodile bite him with the "force of a sledgehammer", he told 7 News.
He managed to free himself and went to hospital with puncture wounds on his feet.
"I won't sleep on any beaches in the future," he told 7 News.
