A New Zealand woman is currently on trial in Australia for allegedly killing a New South Wales farmer in 2016.

Sex worker Kylie So, a 50-year-old transgender woman, has denied killing 71-year-old Robert Dickie.

The Crown told the Supreme Court at Dubbo on Monday Dickie was likely murdered because he told So she couldn't stay at his house on a permanent basis, ABC Australia reported

So, who sometimes travelled to Australia from New Zealand between 2008 and 2016, first met Dickie in 2011 and the pair communicated regularly from March 2016, the court heard. She visited his home on June 10, 2016.

The Crown said Dickie and So, four days later, paid a visit to a neighbour, the ABC reported. During that visit, Dickie described So as "a very good friend".

It was after they arrived home on this day Dickie told So she couldn't stay at his home permanently, which was the probable cause for the subsequent "blood-shedding event", the Crown said. Blood matching Dickie's DNA was found throughout his home a year after he went missing, the court heard.

But Dickie's body has never been found and So denies killing him - telling the police he told her he was going to a party and never returned.

Defence lawyer Ian Nash said it was possible somebody else was involved in Dickie's disappearance, given he took part in sexual encounters with vulnerable people.

So was extradited from New Zealand in 2020 to face the murder charge in Australia.
