A gender reveal party in Mexico has taken a turn for the worst, after an overhead plane crashed and killed the pilot.
The happy couple were celebrating their pregnancy with a group of family and friends in Sinaloa, Mexico in their back garden when disaster struck.
The pair had hired a small plane to fly over the venue and dump either pink or blue coloured powder to surprise them with the gender of their baby.
As the plane released the pink powder into the air, loud cheers of happiness could be heard from the couple and the crowd as they realized a baby girl was on the way.
However, as the couple kissed one another, the plane suddenly shot upwards and lost control.
A video was then captured of the moment the plane started falling, showing the aircraft rotate to its side before losing one of its wings.
The aircraft could then be seen passing over palm trees, and into the background of the video.
The plane, still releasing pink powder, flew past a parking lot before eventually crashing into the ground.
The 32-year-old solo pilot, Luis Angel, died in the crash and was found lying in the rubble.
Clips of the tragic moment have since gone viral on social media, with several people commenting on the tragic footage.
"Thought I was going crazy because they carried on like it didn't crash," one TikTok user said.
"They just kept cheering," another added.
People went on to share their own gender reveal stories without the use of a plane.
"My gender reveal was me opening an email from our blood test with my husband on the phone because he was at work," one person said.
"We had a gender reveal package, it was just us and immediate family, it was nice and quiet," another shared.
Several people shared confusion over choosing something with the risk of being dangerous rather than something more "safe and simple".
"Get a damn cake, do something that doesn't cause destruction," one person said.
"Can't go wrong with cake."
