A man has been arrested for drink-driving on a tractor in the United States - just 17 minutes after he was released from custody for the same offence.

The man, 49, was driving the farm vehicle in Pennsylvania when he was arrested by police and accused of driving under the influence.

According to American media, he was first taken into custody on September 16 by Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) after trying to flee the scene of a crash, in a 1974 International Harvester 4000 series tractor.

The tractor and a 2011 Toyota RAV4 were at a stop sign when the tractor backed into the car and tried to leave the area. The driver of the car then followed behind, honking at the driver to try and get his attention.

The man later admitted to police that he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel, and was arrested prior to being released - however he didn't give police much of a break.

"Approximately 17 minutes after being released from custody, the actor was found to be operating a tractor yet again on the roadway and was placed into custody for a 2nd DUI," police said.

No one was injured inside the RAV4, where one of the passengers included a two-year-old.

Pennsylvania police are continuing their investigations.
