People in some parts of Australia have been warned of scorching temperatures this weekend, with official forecasts saying it could hit 50C.
Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said parts of Western Australia (WA), including the Pilbara region, could hit record-high temperatures.
Weatherzone warned a hot air mass over Pilbara would bring "hotter than usual" conditions with "the potential to produce some of the highest temperatures in the world".
Temperatures there will likely peak between Saturday and Tuesday, but the heat could last even longer.
WA towns in the firing line include Laverton, Leinster, Leonora, Meekatharra, Newman, Paraburdoo, Wiluna and Warburton.
Australia has only recorded official temperatures of 50C or above just seven times.
Meanwhile, the heatwave is expected to move across and extend to South Australia (SA) over the weekend.
Australia's BoM said the heat may affect the North West Pastoral district, a huge area in the north-west of SA.
Temperatures there are set to climb to the mid-40s over the next few days.
"Severe heatwave conditions are expected to increase in extent and intensity over the weekend," it said.
