A friend of one of the victims killed in a Sydney mall stabbing at the weekend says it makes her "sick to the stomach" to think about how her friend died, after seeing her just hours beforehand.
Maroubra artist Pikria Darchia, 55, was shopping at Bondi Junction Westfield on Saturday afternoon, after meeting with close friend Nicole Mikhailidi for coffee, according to 7 News.
Darchia was among six people stabbed to death when 40-year-old Joel Cauchi went on a rampage through the mall.
The other victims killed in the attack were 25-year-old Chinese student Yixuan Cheng, architect and mother-of-two Jade Young, security guard Faraz Tahir, 25-year-old daughter of a millionaire Australian businessman Dawn Singleton and 38-year-old first-time Ashlee Good, whose nine-month-old baby girl was also wounded in the attack.
The killer was shot dead by police in the mall when he lunged at an officer with a knife.
"It's crazy to think we said goodbye, and it was the last time we would ever see her," Mikhailidi said of Darchia.
"When I think about what she must have gone through in those moments... that horrific fear and helplessness.
"It makes me sick to the stomach, really."
Meanwhile, it's heartbreak for another friend of victim - Dawn Singleton - who was about to get married to her childhood sweetheart.
Friend Emmi Shannon told 7 News how Singleton had only bought her wedding dress a week before the attack - just months out from tying the knot in her dream day.
"She was just the most perfect human being that I've ever met. She's so sweet, so humble, so down to earth," Shannon said.
