Melbourne suspected mushroom poisoning: Victim Rachael Dixon born in New Zealand

A woman who died from suspected mushroom poisoning in Melbourne at the weekend was born in New Zealand.

Rachael Dixon's sister, Penny Muller-Dixon, has paid tribute to her sibling on social media.

"Words cannot express the heartbreak we are all feeling," she wrote on a Facebook post by Dixon's son, Matthew Mountain.

"Matthew, your NZ family love you - we will see you soon."

According to Dixon's Facebook profile, she was originally from Southland. Some of her family members still lived in the region.

It's understood Dixon consumed a mushroom drink at a health retreat in the town of Clunes at the weekend.

Dixon died at the scene early on Sunday while two others were hospitalised.

The retreat, Soul Barn Creative Wellbeing Centre, is listed as an "alternative and holistic health service" on Facebook.

"My deepest apologies," a Sunday post on the company's page said.

"Sound healing is xld (cancelled) - email with refund and details have been sent to all booked."

Victoria Police said investigations were ongoing.
