Police are investigating the botched robbery of a Swanson petrol station after the owner posted footage online of him fighting off the assailant.
Swanson GAS station owner Zahid Chaudry was working late last Thursday when an armed man in a balaclava entered the store.
Mr Chaudry’s first reaction was to fight off the robber, with security cameras capturing the entire ordeal.
"We were still fighting, I didn't want to give up, he didn't want to give up,” he told Fairfax NZ.
The fight eventually spilled out onto the station’s forecourt, before the attacker gave up and ran away.
He was later seen escaping in a purple or burgundy 1990's Holden Commodore Sedan.
Police are after any information on the car, last seen in the Massey area.
