Home and Away's Kate Ritchie has apologised after being caught drink-driving in Sydney.

Police say Ritchie, 44, had a blood alcohol reading of 0.06 after she was pulled over for a random breath test.

She's now taken to social media to apologise for the "seriousness of my actions".

"Recently I undertook a random breath test. Although it was low level, the test came back positive," she wrote.

"I made a poor decision and there is no doubt I understand the seriousness of my actions.

"I am truly sorry," she concluded.

Ritchie has been fined AU$600 and banned from driving for three months.

Ritchie is due to return to Australia's television screens as a judge on Australia's Got Talent.
