Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly turned down an offer to stay with the duke's father, Prince Charles.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are back in the UK to attend a series of charity events, were reportedly extended an "open invitation" from Charles to stay at the Balmoral estate and relax at his holiday home.
However, insiders told UK newspaper The Mirror that despite Charles telling them they were "always welcome" and it would be "a good opportunity for everyone to take stock and relax," the Sussexes declined the olive branch.
"He hasn't wavered, despite the attacks, which seem to be coming with increased vigour.
"The Prince of Wales reiterated his invitation for Harry and Meghan, and the whole family if they wished, to come and stay with him this summer while he is at his home on the Balmoral estate.
"He thought it might be a good opportunity for everyone to take stock and relax, but the invitation was declined," the insider said.
Last week, Markle sparked a media firestorm when she told The Cut magazine: "Harry said to me, 'I lost my dad in this process'. That's his decision."
The duchess had been discussing the pair's decision to step back from the monarchy and relocate to the US, where Markle is from.
The couple are travelling to Manchester on Monday where Meghan is due to give a speech on gender equality.
In March last year, Harry revealed he had felt "let down" by Charles, saying his father stopped taking his calls before the family cut him off financially in the first quarter of 2020.
It's also reported Harry and Meghan won't be catching up with Prince William and Kate Middleton during their brief visit, as rumours of the widening rift between the royal brothers continue to grow.
