Little Britain comic and Great British Bake Off host Matt Lucas has revealed the tragic reason why he decided to lose weight.
Fans this week in the UK had noticed he'd lost weight as he returned to television.
Speaking to Gabby Logan on The Mid.Point podcast, Lucas said his father died from a heart attack at the age of 52 in 1996, when he was just 22.
"I'm 48. My dad died when he was 52, very suddenly, his dad died I think at 56, so I was looking at the law of averages here," he said.
"I was very big and I was getting bigger in the pandemic actually.
"Sort of not being very active, not really going out, not seeing people, just eating a lot of roast potatoes. I can't tell you how many roast potatoes I ate!" he said.
He also let slip he'd dropped at least four clothing sizes.
"I've gone from maybe a XXL, sometimes I was a XXXL, down to a medium now I think.
"I do feel a bit better, I feel a bit relieved, because the thing is I don't do any drugs and I don't smoke and I hardly ever drink, so it's just the food really."
Lucas says he's also started doing regular exercise by taking walks around the canal near his home.
