AM host Patrick Gower is threatening to "get loose" on The D4's upcoming tour.
The Aotearoa rock legends have announced they're reforming to mark the 21st anniversary re-release of their critically acclaimed debut album 6TWENTY. The band will embark on a nationwide tour in March 2023.
Speaking on AM, vocalist and guitarist Jimmy Christmas said they were ready to rock once more.
"We are not a nostalgia act, we were on hiatus, so we're going to pick it up exactly where we left it, so expect to be as good as if not better.
"It's a good opportunity to get back with some people I really love, guys that I have a really strong connection with to express ourselves musically. We want to push ourselves - it's not a nostalgia trip, it's a buzz."
AM host Patrick Gower shared memories of watching the band play Auckland's Big Day Out, with the band's drummer taking his shirt off mid-set.
He also said he'd be thinking of doing the same to commemorate the band's return to the stage next year.
"They've been on a hiatus, my body has been on a hiatus as well," Gower said.
"It'll look a little different to what it did when I was 25. It'll be awesome for people like me to get loose."
When told by co-host Amanda Gillies he'd have to keep his shirt on, Gower rounded on her telling her, "You don't control me."
Christmas also agreed, telling the hosts, "If he wants to get loose, he can get loose."
