Taika Waititi and Rita Ora will be hosting the 2022 MTV European Music Awards.
The event will take place in Germany on Sunday, November 13 (Monday NZTime).
In a video posted to Instagram, Waititi was shown playing with the ball-like MTV award while his wife Rita Ora tried to be serious.
"Hello I'm Rita Ora," she said.
"I'm Taika Waititi," he replied.
Ora tried to carry on with the announcement as Waititi became more frenzied shaking the trophy.
"And we're extremely excited to announce that we'll both be hosting the 2022 MTV EMAS ... what are you doing?" Ora interrupted.
"Don't do that. You're going to break it," she warned him, before saying more sternly "Stop wobbling it."
However, in true Waititi style, the Boy director paid no attention.
"It's wobbling itself!" he exclaimed.
But Ora wasn't too distracted by Waititi's waggling of the trophy and said they would be in Dusseldorf for the awards in November.
"I'm not going to break it!" her husband replied, before subsequently dropping it and breaking it.
"I think we broke it" he meekly said as the video ended.
The Instagram post has already proved popular, with over 66,000 likes and plenty of comments saying the pair were hilarious.
The 2022 MTV EMAs will be the first time the pair has worked together at a public event.
Ora opened the Rugby World Cup in Auckland earlier in October, performing a medley of songs at Eden Park during the games.
Waititi introduced Ora on stage but wasn't directly involved in her performance.
