Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter posted an emotional tribute to his brother Aaron, who died on the weekend.
The 34-year-old singer-turned-rapper was found dead Saturday (local time) at his house in Lancaster, California in the US.
On Instagram Nick said he was heartbroken over Aaron's death despite their "complicated" relationship.
"My heart has been broken today," wrote Carter.
"Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held onto the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
"Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.
"I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth. I love you baby brother."
Sources told TMZ Aaron's body was found in his bathtub after a 911 call was made about a drowning.
The official cause of death is not yet known, but there was no information or evidence of foul play, police sources told TMZ.
Aaron shot to fame in the 1990s with his hit single 'I Want Candy'. He released four studio albums, starting with his self-titled debut album in 1997, when he was nine years old.
He transitioned from pop to rap in later years as well as appearing on Dancing With The Stars and in the Broadway production Seussical.
He had many battles with substance abuse, sharing recently that he was voluntarily attending an outpatient rehab program in order to regain custody of his son.
