Award-winning Australian radio host Jackie 'O' Henderson has sensationally announced she is ending her show so she can focus on her recovery from COVID-19.

Henderson is the co-host of The Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM in Australia along with the controversial Kyle Sandilands.

It is the most popular radio show in Sydney.

On Monday morning, Henderson said on air she had been struggling to recover since contracting COVID-19 in the year and needed to listen to her doctor's advice and take extended leave.

"Ever since picking up that virus, I've been to the doctor several times and he said because I've been pushing myself every day, after the show all I've been doing is sleeping and I'm not getting better," she said.

"I just have to take some time off... I'm ending the show today. As in now.

"You know how much this show means to me, you know how much I push through everything, and I would not be doing this unless I absolutely had to.

"[The doctor] basically said, 'if you keep doing this, this is going to get much worse,' and I've taken his advice," Jackie told her co-host.

"I rarely take doctors' advice, I'm usually like, 'nah, it'll be fine'."

Henderson said she would be "back soon", but the Sydney Morning Herald reported she wouldn't be back on air for the rest of 2022.
