Avengers actor Robert Downey Jr has shocked fans with his new hair - or to be precise, a complete lack of it.
The Iron Man actor's been seen on the red carpet at the 13th Governors Awards in Los Angeles with a completely bald head.
He'd shaved his head for an upcoming role in a new series The Sympathizer, a drama series adaptation of Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, which will be produced by and co-star Downey Jr.
The story is described as an "espionage thriller and cross-culture satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his resulting exile in the United States."
But fans of the actor have been stunned by the new look, with some saying he was "unrecognisable."
"Why RDJ [Robert Downey Jr] kinda look like Bruce Willis had a younger brother we never knew about [sic]," one said.
"He looks good as a baldie," another wrote.
He was also compared to other less hirsute celebrities, with some on social media drawing parallels between him and Travis Barker, Pitbull, Vin Diesel and Jeff Bezos.
However, Downey Jr warned fans he would be undergoing this radical change of looks in a video on Instagram at the end of October.
Talking to his kids, he said: "I don't want to have to wear a bald cap, so will you guys shave my head?"
His children Exton and Avri were then seen using a pair of electric clippers to remove his barnet.
