Cirque du Soleil on ice is coming to New Zealand for the first time ever in 2023 when Crystal premieres in Christchurch on Friday, June 16.

It will run for three days at Christchurch Arena before heading to Auckland's Spark Arena from July 4 - 9.

In addition to seven of the gravity-defying traditional circus disciplines, the production also features traditional figure skating and extreme skating - two disciplines that have never been seen before in a Cirque du Soleil production.

The show was created in 2017 and has toured to over 115 cities in 12 different countries.

Organisers say it is Cirque du Soleil's first and only touring show to incorporate multiple remastered pop songs into the soundtrack of a show including Beyoncé's 'Halo', U2's 'Beautiful Day', Nina Simone's 'Sinnerman' and Sia's 'Chandelier'.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public from Wednesday, November 16.
