A Warsaw-based game developer has released a new trailer for what is believed to be the world's first Jesus Christ simulator.
I Am Jesus Christ has been developed by SimulaM and PlayWay and will allow players to "walk in the footsteps of Jesus in an incredible retelling of the story of Christ from birth to resurrection".
The game will be based on the New Testament and the latest trailer for it shows a first-person view of walking in the footsteps of the Messiah as he carries out acts from the Bible.
Players will be able to turn water to wine, end plagues, cure the sick and take on what could probably be the ultimate boss fight as they to try and defeat Satan.
"I Am Jesus Christ: Prologue is a standalone game and the introduction to the full version of I Am Jesus Christ," the game's page on Steam Store said.
"Walk in the footsteps of Jesus in this incredible first-person retelling of the story of Christ from birth to resurrection. Become the Messiah in I Am Jesus Christ."
CEO of SimulaM Maksym Vysochanskiy said the initial inspiration for the game came to him decades ago.
"Basically, over 20 years ago, I was so inspired by computer-animated movies like Shrek and Toy Story that I thought, 'It would be great to make such a movie about Jesus Christ'," he told Vice.
The game's trailer shows an epic approach is being taken, with stirring music following Jesus as he travels around, helping catch fish in a river and put a wedding back on track when he is told "the wedding has a small issue, and maybe you would be able to help".
The player then is given the chance to turn the water into wine, in a section entitled 'Water To Wine'.
Successful completion of the miracle elicits much jubilation from those attending, with one saying: "This wine is better than the wine we had before! Thank you, thank you! You have saved the day!"
The trailer also shows a segment of the game in which the player is also given the chance to heal a boy who is lying prone on a bed. Taking on this miracle seems to transport you inside the boy's body as the player hands appear to manipulate the blood vessels and organs within.
However, the game is not all smooth sailing and miracles.
There is also a warning of trouble ahead, with one villager warning: "They don't deserve that and, believe me, at the end they will betray you and kill you."
The game's prologue is due to release on December 1, 2022 via Steam, before a full game is released in 2023.
