Jason David Frank, the actor best known for portraying the Green and White Rangers on the original TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has died at the age of 49.
The news was reported by TMZ, which claimed the actor had taken his own life in Texas on Sunday (local time).
"Unfortunately, it is true," a representative for Frank told People magazine.
"Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being.
"He loved his family, friends and fans very much.
"He will be truly missed."
Frank played Tommy Oliver in the series, which lasted three years.
He then went on to appear in Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Wild Force, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Power Rangers Hyperforce and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, plus the 1995 and 1997 Power Rangers movies.
Co-star Walter E Jones who played the Black Power Ranger posted a tribute online.
"Can't believe it. RIP Jason David Frank. My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family," he said.
