Former 7 Days team leader Paul Ego is to return to breakfast radio, replacing Gary McCormick as part of the More FM Breakfast Club in 2023.

On Tuesday, it was announced McCormick would be leaving More FM in April after 18 years to join Today FM, where he will do "political stuff, political panels, podcasts and my own show."

Ego said he was "fizzing at the gills" to return to breakfast radio, and in particular, More FM, where he began his radio career in the early 2000s.

It was on breakfast that he worked with Jeremy Corbett and Kim Adamson on the More FM's Kim & Corbett breakfast show.

"I absolutely know that with Lana and Adam I can stamp the Paul Ego mark onto More FM once again and the three of us can create an awesome show that listeners can rely on to bring them a smile and a laugh every day," he said in a statement.

"I also wanna give huge kudos to Gary for his part in the More FM legacy.

"Gary's got a great comedic mind and he's such a superb wordsmith.

"Clearly his are big shoes to fill but thankfully I'm a hefty man with large feet."
