Kim Kardashian has bought the famous Attallah Cross worn several times by Princess Diana.
The 1920s pendant went on sale at auction house Sotheby's on Wednesday (UK time) and was one of the last lots to be auctioned off.
The Guardian reported the auction house as saying Kardashian was one of four bidders who was trying to snap it up - it finally sold for just under NZ$314,000.
The pendant was made famous by Diana when she wore it at a London charity gala for Birthright in October 1987, and sold for more than double its estimated price.
The cross-shaped amethyst was bought by businessman Naim Attallah in the 1980s, who loaned it to Diana on several occasions.
It's believed to be a one-off private commission and has a total diamond weight of 5.25 carats.
The head of jewellery at Sotheby’s London Kristian Spofforth said before the auction that it was rare to receive a piece like this for sale.
"Jewellery owned or worn by the late Princess Diana very rarely comes on to the market, especially a piece such as the Attallah cross, which is so colourful, bold and distinctive.
"To some extent, this unusual pendant is symbolic of the princess's growing self-assurance in her sartorial and jewellery choices, at that particular moment in her life."
There has been no official comment from Kardashian about the purchase, but People magazine reported sources saying that Kim was honoured to own a fine piece of jewellery once worn by the late princess.
