Madonna's fans say they're confused by the 64-year-old singer's looks after she appeared at the Grammy Awards on Monday (NZTime) to introduce a devil-horned Sam Smith.
Shortly after welcoming the 'Unholy' singer to the stage, social media lit up with concerns for the 'Material Girl' singer, with fans commenting on her alleged use of Botox and fillers.
"Me attempting to ignore the fact that Madonna has a whole new face. #GRAMMYs," one wrote, alongside a video of Adele looking confused at a basketball game.
"I'm all for cosmetic surgery but @Madonna should have left her face alone after her last lift," another said.
"Whaaaaaat happened to Madonna’s face?!" another added.
Plastic surgeons previously told US website Page Six they believe Madonna has undergone a facelift and nose job, among other cosmetic work.
The singer herself has made no comments on what - if any - cosmetic surgery she has had.
However, there was some pushback to the commentary online, with one pointing out that fans would have equally hit out at Madonna for looking her age.
"To everyone dragging Madonna for being unrecognisable: sit the hell down. If she had shown up with no Botox, filler or work, looking her real age, y'all would have dragged her for that, too.
"Let her do her thing and continue to be the queen of the revamp and check your misogyny," they said.
Madonna announced last month she would be embarking on a tour to celebrate 40 years in the business - there's been no word yet on any New Zealand dates being added to the global jaunt.
