Promoters of the Sir Rod Stewart Mission Estate Winery Concert date on Saturday, April 8 say they are "working towards" the gig "proceeding as scheduled" after the devastating impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle.
In a statement announcing an Auckland tour date for Stewart and support act Cyndi Lauper, the promoters added that they would continue to monitor the recovery of the Hawke's Bay region and pledged money from the new tour date to the disaster relief fund.
"Live Nation will continue to monitor the recovery efforts in Hawke’s Bay and we are working towards the Rod Stewart with Cyndi Lauper date at Mission Estate on Saturday, April 8 proceeding as scheduled."
Stewart and Lauper will play Auckland's Spark Arena on Sunday, April 9.
Tickets to the newly announced Auckland show will go on sale at 10am, Friday, March 3.
They will also play the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on Wednesday, April 5.
It comes after Sting announced he would be cancelling his planned Mission Winery Estate concert date "out of respect" to those affected by the severe weather event.
Two weeks ago, organisers announced the build at the venue had commenced and the site was "in relatively good condition" despite the surrounding regions being severely affected by Cyclone Gabrielle.
That social media post was met with a furious backlash with many saying the decision to press ahead for Saturday, March 4 was in "bad taste".
Sting subsequently cancelled the date, and his promoters promised they'd be donating money to the disaster relief fund.
"Out of respect to those affected by the devastating impact of Cyclone Gabrielle and in the interest of focusing critical attention and resources on relief efforts, Sting's concert on Saturday, March 4 at Mission Estate Winery in Napier will no longer proceed.
"A donation will be made by Sting and Live Nation to the Hawke’s Bay Foundation’s Cyclone Relief Fund," the promoters said.
Sting's Christchurch concert on Wednesday, March 1 is unaffected.
