Spotify has cut ties with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Deadline has reported.
The couple originally signed with Spotify in 2020 for a US$20 million deal, which gave life to Markle's Archetypes podcast, in which she interviewed celebrities, historians and experts about the history of stereotypes that get levelled against women.
The podcast has run only for one season. In it, Markle spoke to the likes of Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling, Constance Wu, Paris Hilton, Issa Rae and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez across 12 episodes.
Deadline reported the pair were "rethinking their deals to find better homes and partnerships for content".
It also claimed there was a chance any future seasons of the Markle-led podcast could end up on other services.
The first episode of Archetypes took the top of the streaming charts, with Spotify Wrapped saying it had achieved the highest first-week streams at launch for any podcast in the US ever.
"The team behind Archetypes remain proud of the podcast they created at Spotify. Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform," a representative for WME, which represents Markle and Archewell productions, told the Wall Street Journal.
Spotify undergone a round of redundancies recently - last week, it laid off 200 employees, mainly audio engineers.
The Hollywood Reporter said Spotify had not commented on the news.
