Ticketek Australia has claimed it doesn't operate a queueing system for fans desperate to get tickets to Taylor Swift and that the process is random to ensure it's "fair."
Insiders told Australian site news.com.au there is reportedly no lobby, as many fans would have seen on both sides of the Tasman after they tried to snap up tickets for Swift's 2024 Sydney and Melbourne dates during the pre-sales on Tuesday.
It was reported four million people had tried to get into the ticket lobby to secure tickets to the shows, with 800,000 people waiting in the lobby before the sales began.
However, Ticketek says anyone in the ticket lounge at the same time has the same chance of being selected to purchase tickets.
"Everyone in the Ticketek lounge has an equal opportunity to get into the site regardless of when they have arrived," a spokesman told news.com.au.
It also warned that fans shouldn't give money to anyone but the official sellers.
"There is no doubt that there are going to be many disappointed fans given the demand for tickets. We are encouraging all fans to follow our helpful tips to ensure their best chance at securing tickets, and to not purchase tickets through unauthorised resellers," they said.
At around 3.45pm on Wednesday, Ticketek Australia tweeted that the pre-sale tickets for the Sydney show had sold out, but some VIP tickets remained. It also advised Swifties more tickets would be up for grabs in the general sale on Friday.
At 4pm, the Melbourne pre-sale for tickets began, with thousands still hopeful they could secure their place.
Those tickets sold out within three hours.
On Thursday, Swift announced two additional shows in Melbourne and Sydney, ahead of the next sale of tickets on Friday. Concert promoter Frontier Touring made it clear "no further dates will be added for the Australian tour".
Tickets for the Sydney dates go on general sale on Friday at midday, and the tickets for Melbourne dates are on sale on Friday at 4pm.
