Andre Braugher's cause of death has been revealed.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide: Life on the Street star died suddenly from a "brief illness" on Wednesday, aged 61.
His agent Jennifer Allen has confirmed the actor had died from lung cancer.
Following the news of his death, tributes poured in for Braugher. Among those were his Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-stars, who shared their devastation at the news.
"I'm honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You left us too soon," Braugher's co-star Terry Crews wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday.
Kyle Secor, who played Braugher's detective partner Tim Bayliss on Homicide, also penned an emotional tribute online, calling him a "true titan".
"An amazing man. A great friend and acting partner. Wonderful father and husband. Ferocious, committed, humble and kind to those around him. He elevated everyone's game on the set and I count myself fortunate to have shared hours with him in the interrogation room, in our detective-mobile, sniffing out perps on the streets of Baltimore, on the wharf and sharing far too many meals to count. A true titan - 'I shall not look on his like again'," he wrote on Instagram.
