AM show host Melissa Chan-Green has revealed the terrifying moment she was grabbed in a street in Syndey.
Speaking on Friday's show, the hosts were discussing the failures in a police stalking investigation that potentially led to the death of 21-year-old Farzana Yaqubi.
A report released on Thursday by The Independent Police Conduct Authority found she told police she was living in extreme fear, weeks before her murder in late 2022. She was killed in broad daylight by a man she warned police about weeks before.
Talking about the case to co-host Lloyd Burr, Chan-Green revealed the incident happened in Australia "a few years ago" but didn't reveal the exact date.
"I was in a position in Australia once when I was walking down the street and there had been reports around at the time in Sydney of a man that had been seen sexually harassing women.
"This man was running straight towards me in a suit but with bare feet and he looked kind of distressed, so I kind of stopped and asked 'Are you ok?'
"He ran up to me, came really close, grabbed me and said "I've got you" and then ran off.
"It kind of left me a bit shaken and I went and called police and I said you know this has happened, I know I didn't expect everyone to go and find him but I'm reporting it in case it's part of a pattern and it [the response] was really quite dismissive.
"So I guess this is the worry, right, this is potentially the red flags that are being brought up."
