A top Hollywood producer is blasting Sydney Sweeney, saying she is "not pretty" and "can't act".
Carol Baum, who has produced more than 30 films including the likes of Father of the Bride and the Dead Ringers remake, made the comments after watching Sweeney's 2023 romcom, Anyone But You, on a plane.
Baum was speaking at a screening in New York to film critic Janet Maslin when she unleashed on the Euphoria actress.
"There's an actress who everybody loves now - Sydney Sweeney. I don't get Sydney Sweeney," Baum told Maslin and her audience."
"I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney's movie because I wanted to watch it."
Baum said she wanted to know who Sweeney is "and why everybody's talking about her".
"I watched this unwatchable movie - sorry to people who love this movie - [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other," Baum added. "I said to my class, 'Explain this girl to me. She's not pretty, she can't act. Why is she so hot?'
"Nobody had an answer but then the question was asked, 'Well, if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?'
"I said, 'Well that's a... good question. That's a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.'"
Sweeney has not responded to the comments.
In March, she was forced to shut down rumours that she and her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell were romantically involved.
"The craziest rumour I've seen is that while I was filming Anyone But You, I was having an affair with my co-star Glen Powell," first-time Saturday Night Live host Sweeney said during her monologue on the show at the time.
"That is... not true," she said.
Sweeney, who has been engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino since 2022, said she produced the rom-com with her fiancé and that he was present on set throughout production.
