The Princess of Wales may not reappear in public for the rest of 2024 according to a report on US website The Daily Beast.
Kate Middleton has been recovering since undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment for cancer, which was discovered during her "planned abdominal surgery" in January.
Friends of the family have reportedly told the publication the Princess' upcoming diary is "empty" and she will "probably not reappear in public for the rest of the year".
Kate and husband Prince William are due to spend the next week on holiday at their Sandringham Estate - and it is expected William will be devoting more time to his family after it was announced he and the King were cancelling any upcoming events so as not to distract from the snap UK election announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
That election is due to be held on July 4, meaning William will gain an extra six weeks with Kate and his children.
"Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance," the source told The Daily Beast.
"I am told that Kate's diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year."
However, the source also reportedly told the website there was a plan to stop the potential rise of conspiracy theories which soared when the Princess was not seen or heard from after her initial surgery.
"I would not rule out another video message updating the country on her health. That proved to be a very effective way of keeping the conspiracy theorists at bay," it said.
In March this year, Kensington Palace had to play down conspiracy theories over the whereabouts of the Princess of Wales after Prince William cancelled his attendance at an event last minute due to a "personal matter".
That subsequently led to the Princess releasing a video on March 22, revealing she had been undergoing treatment for cancer, and explaining she would be stepping back from the public eye to focus on her recovery.
