AM host Lloyd Burr has made an unusual request of an Australian comedian during Wednesday's show.
Heath Franklin, who plays Chopper on stage, is back in Aotearoa for a national tour as well as appearances at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival which kicks off on Friday.
However, during his interview, things went a bit awry when Burr became distracted by Chopper's facial hair.
"Are your handlebars real?" Burr asked, before adding: "Can I touch them?"
"Ah yeah I've been hoping you would," the comedian said.
Seconds later, after reaching over, Burr made a shock confession, saying: "They're not real, I can see some glue under them - they look quite real" to which Chopper replied: "I didn't come here for this.
"I thought it was going to be a nice moment between a couple of dudes and now my credibility's in the bin," he said.
"Next time you touch someone's moustache just stroke down, follow the grain."
