AM host Lloyd Burr is warning Auckland audiences to "lower their expectations" ahead of his appearance at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival on Wednesday night.
He will appear as a guest on Robbie Nicol's Late Night Pilot comedy show at the Basement Theatre.
Speaking with Nicol on Wednesday morning's AM show, Burr said a lack of sleep from an early start at 2.30am would likely impact his performance.
"I'm going to be like a zombie," he warned. "I may become savage and sassy."
Nicol also revealed the recent news about the impending closure of Newshub in July prompted him to reach out to Burr when he was thinking about his own comedy festival show.
"I did think, when we were pitching a [comedy] show about how to get a TV show and the struggles at getting a show, we thought maybe we should talk to the folks at Newshub and see what's going through their mind," he joked.
"Am I a flailing broadcaster?" Burr said, before asking Nicol: "Why are you doing it given the medium is dying?"
"Well, I don't know what the salary is for a Newshub show," Nicol began, before AM co-host Melissa Chan-Green interruped: "It's soon to be nothing."
