Sweet Home Alabama star Reese Witherspoon shocked fans by revealing her name is not actually Reese Witherspoon.
During a Vanity Fair interview with Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern, Witherspoon was pulled up for referring to the Jurassic Park star as just "Dern".
When Kidman said that it was "weird", Witherspoon explained why she continued to do it throughout the chat.
"I hate how you call her Dern," Kidman said to which Witherspoon replied: "I'm gonna tell you why - cause my name is Laura.
"And her name is Laura, and it's confusing to me."
"My real name is Laura Jeanne - so that's why I call her Dern, cause we can't both be Laura," Witherspoon said.
Witherspoon's full name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon. Reese is her mother's maiden name and she chose to use it as her own when she began her acting in the 1990s.
The revelation has stunned fans of Witherspoon's who took to Vanity Fair's social pages.
"Wait - her name is what?" one wrote.
"I was today years old," another commented.
"This is new information for me," another person said.
