Around 100 people queued at US fried chicken chain Popeyes' first ever New Zealand store in South Auckland on Monday morning.
The restaurant opened its doors at 106 Great South Road in Takanini at 10am, serving up fried chicken offerings in competition with the likes of KFC and Texas Chicken.
Popeyes was founded in New Orleans in 1972 and has grown to over 4300 outlets around the world. The company said it plans to open 10 stores across Aotearoa this year.
Chatting with AM on Monday, general manager James McLauchlan also revealed where the second Aotearoa location of the fast food company would be, announcing a Popeyes NZ will be opening in Taupo in July.
